Mission Support
We aim to give to external charities not less than 10% of the planned giving St James’ receives from its members; usually the total is well in excess of this.
We currently focus this on 4 main charities, operating at home and overseas:
We also support a number of local charities, with a medium term financial commitment to the work of the Southport Schools Worker Trust in local schools and respond to a variety of one-off appeals each year.
The church encourages the use of “Fair Trade” products and offers a Traidcraft stall at various services.
Through payment of its Parish Share to the Liverpool Diocese, this parish also makes a contribution to the cost of mission and ministry in the many deprived areas which exist in the diocese.
