As we move out of the prolonged Covid lockdowns, we are beginning to look forward to meeting together - both in worship and fellowship. St James’ has always been a church with a strong community and we have been missing our opportunities for fellowship. The Wednesday Zoom church has been a wonderful example of how we have adapted to continue meeting in the virtual world. Now we want to explore what we should do once we are allowed to meet together again. Hopefully some things can be in place by September and we want to find out what you would support, both by attending and/or helping.

Below is a list of activities that have happened or are happening at St James, but we are also keen to hear if you have any other ideas.

Zoom church
A meeting of fellowship and worship using Zoom. Currently weekly @7pm.

House Groups
Small groups meeting weekly either in houses or in church on a weekly basis for Bible study, prayer and fellowship

Sunday @ 7
A monthly more informal evening service of worship in church, either at St Peters’ or St James’

Monthly lunch date for men at different venues

Ladies who lunch
Monthly lunch date for ladies at different venues

Mothers’ Union

Afternoon tea for those who live alone
Monthly afternoon tea organised by members of church for the isolated

A weekly/monthly afternoon meeting with different guest speakers aimed at the retired

Walking Group
Run with other churches with monthly rambles

None of these can happen without some people prepared to lead or help in other ways, and we want to find out if there would be enough support to run activities.

In order to improve our confidence to participate in mission activities, we believe that we need to provide some training, so we will also ask how you feel about this.
