These are some of the people you may meet while visiting our Church:
Revd Ian Mainey - Vicar
I was brought up in Bootle,Liverpool but have spent most of my years since leaving school in other parts of the country, especially Cumbria where I was able to indulge in my love of walking.
One wife, two sons, one daughter, no pets (although my daughter would like us to keep hens). I enjoy reading and listening to music of all kinds, but especially classical music.
Have been in the ministry for well over twenty years. Before that - Civil Service (Inland Revenue), teaching, working with the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship.
My passion? Sharing the love of God with others and helping church members to understand and apply Gods Word to their lives.
Revd David Collier - Curate
I was born in Warwick and after leaving school started working for a builders’ merchant. A feeling that God wanted me to become a full-time minister led me into the Church Army and I trained for three years as an evangelist. My first post was at Trinity Church in Page Moss, Huyton, where I served for seven years before going on to train for ordination in Birmingham.I am married to Dina and we have two daughters, a son, a granddaughter and two grandsons (identical twins). Also very important to us are our two black Labrador dogs and the fact that we both support Aston Villa.
Judith Rimmer - Parish Secretary
I have been working for St James' since April 2010 and can honestly say that I love my job working in the office! I spent 30+ years teaching Geography in independent schools in Liverpool and Lytham, so this was a big change but I love the variety that the job offers and it is good to be part of such a vibrant church as St James'. There is so much going on here, that no two days are ever the same.
As well as dealing with the service sheets and pewsheets for Sunday I also edit the Parish magazine and I am enjoying developing it as a means of communication. Members of the parish have been great supplying me with articles and I am sure there are more out there with something to say!
Jane Ludlow - Churchwarden
I have lived in Southport apart from time away at University (Liverpool), College (Chester) and early days of married life (Formby).
I am married to Sid who I met and married at St James’ and we have two grown up children.
My link with St James’ goes back a long way when I first started attending as a young child in the mid 1960’s with my parents. My involvement started as a member of Sunday school and Brownies and continued through teaching at Junior Church, assisting with the annual Rose Queen event, serving on a number of rotas, PCC member and secretary and since April 2013 Church Warden. I have attended an Alpha course, also hosted one and am a member of a house group.
All of this has helped me on my own spiritual journey and I hope that in serving as Church Warden I can encourage others in theirs.
Until about 10 years ago I worked as a family law solicitor in St Helens. My interests include spending time with our extended family (I am one of four) and friends, golf, attempting to stay fit, attending the theatre, mainly locally and watching my husband develop his culinary skills.
Brian Jackson - Churchwarden
I have lived in Southport all my life and came to faith in my teens.
I was married to Rosemary for 38 years until she sadly passed away in 2011. I have a daughter, Lucinda, who was a Rose Queen and married at St. James and now lives near Lancaster with her husband Emrys and dog Dougal; for whom I am chief dog-sitter.
When working, I was a Chartered Surveyor in general practice in Southport for nearly forty years.
I have previously served on the PCC and been PCC secretary. I was warden under Stephen Bellamy, the previous incumbent, for 14 years.
